Frequently Asked Questions

You may have some questions about what to expect during a counselling session, whether it’s your first time or if you have sought help before.

Counselling is a collaborative series of sessions between a counsellor and their client. The counsellor helps the client identify goals and find their own solutions to any problems that may be causing distress in their lives. The counsellors objective is to aid the client in improving their communication, coping skills, self esteem and adapt negative behaviour patterns. In short counselling could improve the client’s quality of life.
During your first session we will run through the contract and discuss the confidentiality and the limitations to confidentiality. We will also discuss your goals and how we can work together to achieve an optimal outcome.

Counselling takes courage and dedication to see it through, most clients will need at least 6 sessions, more complex issues can take considerably more time. This can be discussed in your consultation when we have been able to assess your needs. 

With a client centric approach, the pace and frequency can be directed by the clients preference. However our recommendation is weekly or bi-weekly sessions, these can take place at a time convenient to you. 

We offer both online and face to face sessions at our offices in Wilmslow. The initial consultation can be either online or by telephone.

The initial consultation is complimentary, and lasts around 15 minutes this can be online or over the telephone whichever you prefer, It is important for us to discuss your needs, to ensure that we are able to help and that you feel comfortable moving forward in partnership. 

  • Individual sessions are 50 minutes long
  • Couple sessions are 1hr 20 minutes long


Please contact us directly for our session fees.

Payment is due at least 48 hours before the session. If payment is not made 48 hours beforehand, the session will be cancelled.


If a session is cancelled less than 48 hours, no reimbursement will be made. However if it’s more than 48 hours your session can be rearranged, although due to our limited availability we may not be able to see you until the following week.
